Owner | Trainer & Behavior Specialist
Candice Scheibel is a Certified Training Partner through the Karen Pryor Academy for professional dog trainers- KPA-CTP. Candice is driven by her passion to help owners better communicate and understand their dog's behavior. Her goal is to empower owners through positive teaching and training techniques while fostering a stronger human-canine bond.
Candice embarked on her animal training journey 12 years ago after earning a bachelor's degree in Zoology. Her career took off at the Columbus Zoo & Aquarium in the Jungle Jack Hanna's Animal Programs department. There she utilized positive reinforcement techniques to train a diverse array of exotic animals. Candice developed creative training approaches from teaching warthogs to walk on a loose leash to crate training porcupines.
Transitioning to Natural Encounters Inc., Candice trained free-flighted birds for conservation shows at Disney's Animal Kingdom. These experiences not only showcased the effectiveness of positive reinforcement methods but also deepened her passion for animal behavior.
In her role as the Animal Trainer and Behavior Coordinator at a prominent municipal shelter in Orlando, Florida, Candice took the lead in organizing activities such as weekly dog play groups and the training and rehabilitation of aggressive and fearful dogs. While working at the shelter she had the opportunity to work with hundreds of dogs with a vast variety of breeds, temperaments, and behavioral challenges. This experience ignited Candice's passion for assisting pet owners with training and behavioral challenges, focusing on enhancing communication between owners and their dogs to achieve success together.
Motivated by her dedication to advancing her skills, Candice pursued continuing education to ensure that the training she provides adheres to the most current scientific and ethical standards. Her studies at the Karen Pryor Academy equipped her with extensive technical knowledge and hands-on skills in training dogs and educating people. After graduating in 2024, she went on to establish Insightful Hound.
